Acne Studios - S/S 2027

Acne Studios takes an approach of mixing fashion that might not always mix well. The brand has built its identity on combining elements that, on paper, should never work in the same outfit—and somehow making them look completely natural.
That is exactly what made Acne Studios' Spring/Summer 2027 collection so interesting. Creative director Jonny Johansson blended several clear aesthetics at once. Casual streetwear collided with business dressing. Preppy tailoring met upper layering. Sophisticated leather pieces appeared beside playful graphic T-shirts. Individually, each idea belonged to a different wardrobe. Together, they somehow created one of the season's most cohesive collections.
Fashion has spent the past few years encouraging us to choose one aesthetic and to stay there. You are either a minimalist, a streetwear fan, a corporate dresser, or someone who lives in vintage denim. Acne challenged that mindset entirely. This collection suggested that getting dressed does not have to be about choosing one identity. It can be about mixing all of them together, and not just changing them depending on the day, but mixing them in one singular outfit.
That philosophy appeared throughout the runway. Leather jackets were layered over relaxed basics, while printed T-shirts featured necktie graphics combining formal and casual dressing. Pinstripes, usually associated with office wear, suddenly felt playful when paired with different silhouettes and unexpected proportions. Fringe introduced movement to some handbags, while layered styling gave each outfit the feeling of having been collected over time rather than the illusion of being perfectly planned.
Despite the amount happening in each look, nothing felt overwhelming. That balance is what impressed me most. The collection never looked messy. Instead, you could feel the intentions, proving that personal style often comes from within and knowing how to mix contrasting pieces instead of matching everything perfectly.
Pops of a bold red broke up softer neutral looks, while classic blue denim grounded many of the more experimental outfits. My favourite look featured a soft pink leather jacket styled with lighter pastel tones and multiple choices of layering. When given a jacket with a bold neck piece, it would be expected to stay away from layering the neck area even more, but Acne Studios knows where and when to work their magic. Even the colours are often associated with a softer, more feminine wardrobe, yet the overall styling completely shifted the look. Instead of feeling delicate, the outfit came across as confident, cool, and slightly rebellious. It does have a lighter feel, but it's obvious it's not losing any edge.

The collection also continued one of the strongest menswear trends we've been seeing this season: short shorts. Whether on the streets or across luxury runways, shorter hemlines continue gaining momentum, and Acne embraced the trend without making it feel forced. Styled with tailoring and oversized outerwear, they reinforced the collection's ongoing conversation between relaxed dressing and refined construction.

Perhaps what Acne Studios does better than almost anyone else is encourage experimentation. The brand reminds us that great style does not come from following strict fashion rules. Sometimes the best outfits happen when you stop worrying about whether colours match perfectly or whether one piece belongs to a particular aesthetic.

Spring/Summer 2027 felt like a celebration of dressing instinctively. Businesswear, streetwear, preppy classics, leather, tailoring, graphic T-shirts, fringe, denim, and soft pastels all existed within the same collection without competing for attention. Acne Studios proved that fashion does not always need to make perfect sense to look incredibly good. Sometimes the most memorable outfits are the ones that break every styling rule—and still make you want to wear them tomorrow.
